Our first cache in a popular park on Sydney's North Shore.
This is the first Cache by GSPVX, and is in one our favourite spots. It will be the start of a series of caches with a specific theme.
The Cache is a 1 litre Sistema box. It contains a netball bear, (GeoGirl’s sport) and a few other swaps for you. There is also a Nomad Geocoin that needs to be moved on to explore Australia for its owner.
This delightful park is on the site of the first orchard and farm on Middle Harbour. Well known Australian author Henry Lawson wrote about it and Sydney artist Conrad Martens sketched it. A leisurely stroll through the park reveals more than 1500 years of history starting with Aboriginal middens which can still be seen there.
Echo Point Park is Ku-ring-gai Council's only park with water frontage, a beach, bushland, mangroves and salt marsh.
In addition to its natural and scenic values, its cultural significance includes a number of Aboriginal sites, limited remains of Roseville Baths and the old Roseville Bridge.
There are extensive stone walking tracks, steps, walls and terraced gardens constructed through unemployment relief schemes during the 1930's depression.
You will only need to take a few steps off the path to find this cache, but it is popular with muggles at weekends, so stealth will be required!
