Geocache Description:

I’ve walked the local trail system here at lunch time for several years and always wondered about this area south of the old railroad bed. You can still see the impressions of old (grass covered) roads and there are groves of trees that surround open spaces, which must have once been the location for buildings.

Inspired by KRed’s nearby A Little Piece of EP History cache I did some research and found out that this is where Eden Prairie’s railroad station was once located. This map shows the general area:

The cache is located near the wetlands set aside along the new HWY 212 corridor, just south of were the station once stood. This appears to have been a small settlement of homes and probably businesses that supported the railroad traffic. The map also marks the location of Miller’s Store to the west, where Miller Park now stands, and the Smith Douglas More house to the north where Kred has their cache.

I've included parking cords for the church lot just north of the cache, but you park here at your own risk. The cache can be reach without bushwhacking, on relatively level and open ground, if you walk a little further east along the trail before jumping off to head south.

MY 25TH HIDE!
