Une cache physique, entre
les gorges de Camelot et le Mont Saint-Michel, à la découverte de
la Grotte des Fées. Attention,
ballade formellement déconseillée aux enfants, et par temps humide.
Se munir de bonnes chaussures, de vêtements fermés, et d'un
bâton.
Depuis Challes-les-Eaux, passez devant le "Chateau des Comptes de
Challes", en direction du point Parking, ou vous pouvez poser votre
voiture. Continuez la route et le chemin en direction du waypoint
n°1 "Croisement 1". Deux choix s'offrent à vous, l'objectif étant
de se rendre à "Bellevarde".
- Tout droit, le chemin
entame une longue mais facile ascension.
- Vers la droite, plus
loin, au waypoint n°2 "Croisement 2", abandonnez le chemin
principal, et partez en direction de la montagne. Le chemin est
raide mais plus court, et permet d'arriver à Bellevarde en 30
minutes.
A partir de Bellevarde,
suivez le chemin en direction du point n°3 "Chemin de la grotte", à
partir duquel le chemin part à gauche. Il devient alors "non
amenagé", raide et très difficile. Environ 150 mètres plus haut, la
grotte vous attend. Le peu d'indications doivent vous avoir mis la
puce à l'oreille : la grotte est inconnue du grand
public et introuvable sur les cartes. Peu d'informations sont
disponibles, si ce n'est que des preuves de présence humaine
préhistoriques ont été retrouvées à l'intérieur.
Une fois arrivé, encore un petit effort, et vous trouverez la
cache, à l'extérieur de la grotte, pas très loin de l'entrée. Pour
repartir, je vous conseille de redescendre par le chemin d'où vous
venez. L'autre solution consiste à monter par le chemin juste avant
la grotte, qui débouche sur le Mont Saint Michel, et
GC19EBJ "Les pelouses sèches". Néanmoins ce chemin est encore
plus difficile, et infesté de tiques.

A physical cache, between
the Camelot gorges, and the Mount Saint-Michel, to discover the
unknown Caves of the Fairies. Warning, highly discouraged trip for kids, and
in case of wet weather. Take great shoes with you, as well as
closed clothes and a stick.
From Challes-les-Eaux, drive aside the "Chateau des
Comptes de Challes", until you reach the Parking point, where you
can let your car. The hike starts there, and you will have to reach
the first waypoint "Croisement 1". Once there, you'll have two
choices, the overall goal being "to go to Bellevarde".
- Straight forward, the
trail is a long but easy way up.
- To the right, at the
second waypoint "Croisement 2", give up the main trail, and take
the one that goes to the mountain. The slope is steep, but the
trail is shorter, and allows to go to Bellevarde in 30
minutes.
From Bellevarde, follow
the path that leads to the third waypoint "Chemin de la grotte",
from where the path climbs to the left. It then becomes "not
enhanced", steep and very hard. About 150 meters further, the cave
awaits. The lack of signs must have made you curious : indeed, the
cave in unknown by the the public, and cannot be found on maps. The
only data available is that proofs of prehistoric human settlement
have been found inside it.
Once arrived, you'll find the cache, outside the cave, near the
entrance. To come back to the car park, I advise you to take back
the path you came with. Another way would be to keep on climbing
with the path before the cave, that goes to Mount Saint Michel,
and GC19EBJ
"Les pelouses sèches". Nevertheless it's as hard as hell,
and full of ticks.
