Geocache Description:

Withlacoochee River, must be on boat or canoe to get to this cache. Climbing is involved.

Paladin’s Preserve, Withlacoochee River
If you yearn for more history that few visitors or even Floridians know about, you will want to visit this cache. The industrial Florida was unnoticed an often undocumented in any tourist publication.
World Wildlife Fund has noted that the Withlachoochee Trail that runs close by is one of the "Top 10 Coolest Places You've Never Seen in North America."
Most Geocachers want to make quick stops, claim their stake and move on to the next cache.
Take your time and enjoy this place. Rent a kayak or canoe if you wish to skip the 30 mile trail. Paddle upstream from the turn of the century town. As you look down through the crystal clear water you quickly understand the meaning of the cache. You are gliding over a true untouched part of Florida, then like the excitement of seeing the lights of Vegas emerge from the desert, you see the structure.
In utter shock you will immediately want to know more.
You see what was once a railroad tressel interrupted in the middle of the river wilderness. This once bustling railway, carried phosphate from the mines. After the depletion of the phosphate, this area retreated and the rail line closed.
In years to come Florida names this bridge as a crossover for the Florida Greenways connecting the longest paved rail trail in Florida.
This railroad tressel, like Paladin the knight, standing tall and holding up to adversity, quietly sits and enjoys the smooth brush of the river at its legs. This special cache is named for a friend Paladin on his 50th birthday celebrated in this beautiful wilderness.
