This cache is located in the woods off of the the Portsmouth High
School Cross-Country trails system in an area formerly called the
Sagamore Hills. It is also located near the Jones Avenue community,
giving it its name. There is a beautiful, but lesser known trail
system that is quite well maintained and good for walking, running
and easy mountain biking.
The best place to park for this cache is at Portsmouth High School,
located at 50 Andrew Jarvis Drive in Portsmouth. There is more than
enough parking here.
The actual start to the Cross-Country trails is located behind home
plate of the Varsity Baseball field, which is behind the track. You
should be able to see the field from the parking lot. The trails
are quite well maintained, marked and are great for walking and
running. The distance on the trail from home plate of the baseball
field to the cache is probably around a mile from my best estimate.
The
Jones Two Cache (GC1TF5C) is probably closer to one and a half
to two miles from home plate.
The cache itself is a normal-sized Rubbermaid container. It has an
orange top, red rim and is labeled as the "Jones One Cache" You'll
know when you find it.
