One of our family's most lasting memories happened at this spot. It
was caught on video and is just one of those quirky memorable
moments when you, as a parent, realize that your young child is
coming into their own.
On this particular day, we were making S'mores around the campfire
and this was the first time we let our girl roast her own
marshmallows.
After about a half-dozen iterations of removing gooey and charred
remnants from her face and fingers, we asked our then four-year old
to finish her roasting and come back over by us away from the
coals. It was then that we caught a glimpse of her future self when
she uttered a rather uncharacteristic and furtive, "I'm not done
yet!" ... she went back to the fire to roast a few more.
It's one of those great camping moments that brings you back to
your own youth, roasting marshmallows and singing songs around the
campfirer with your family or at camp with budding friends. Moments
that you wanted to stretch out as long as you possibly could I
started thinking about all the songs I remembered from my own youth
and there were many, but not nearly as many as I found when I
started looking for campfire songbooks! Holly Flaming Marshmallows,
there's a lot! Here are just a few questions to answer about some
of these songs to get the cords to the final.
A:How many shirts did Old Hogan's Goat
eat?
B:Farmer had Ghost Chickens since he was what age
(concatenated)?
C:When the Sailor Went to See, the Operator was asked for
what number?
D:After the DR. fixed COKE up they all drank
something?
E:Which of Rover's legs was simply gone?
F:How many Geoducks do you need to dig a day?
