Since I joined the unit mentioned above and below I have been thinking some time of making some caches in their name. Our boys have been in countries far away like Congo, Rwanda, Somalia, Benin, Lebanon, Afghanistan… This time they are not that far from home but being here in Corsica it is a great opportunity to start a serie.
1 Para, also known as the 1st Batallion Paracommando from Belgium, (visit link) , was in Corsica from April 13th till April 18th in order to train for some marches in difficult terrain. After a very sunny arrival at Solenzara airfield our guys took their backpacks (weight between 20 and 25 kg) and took of for the first part of their journey. The first stop was at Rivoli, after a quite hard climb in the sun.
The second stop they took was at Tova where they got some water and and combat food.
It is at this location I did hide my first cache on the soil of Corsica at an altitude of approximately 1100m. After all, one of the biggest examples of the islands surname… the rock coming out of the water.
