Tammerkoski formed after the ice age, about 7500 years ago. The rapids are first mentioned in official documents from year 1405. The first milldams were created around the same time to harvest the power of the moving water. In year 1779 village of Tammerkoski was given city status and not so long after this during the 19th century the banks of Tammerkoski were filled with factories. Even if most of the industry has now moved away, old industrial buildings and chimneys can still be seen along the Tammerkoski rapids.

Tammerkoski syntyi jääkauden jälkeen noin 7500 vuotta sitten. Koski mainitaan ensimmäisen kerran virallisissa dokumenteissa vuodelta 1405. Samoihin aikoihin ensimmäisiä myllypadot rakennettiin koskivoiman hyödyntämiseksi. Vuonna 1779 Tammerkosken kylä sai kaupunkioikeudet ja pian tämän jälkeen 1800-luvulla kosken rannat täyttyivät tehtaista. Vaikka teollisuus onkin pääosin muuttanut pois, ovat vanhat teollisuusrakennukset ja savupiiput nähtävillä kosken rannoilla.
Älä työnnä kätkötuubia liian syvälle, riittää kunhan se vain ei näy. Kolikot ja bugit eivät mahdu kätköön.
