Geocache Description:

Located at the top of the famous "Stairway to Heaven".

There is no legal access to the cache from the actual stairway to heaven, but the trail from Moanalua Valley is open and in pretty good shape. The trail is called "Pu'u Keahi a Kahoe". It starts at Moanalua Valley park, and you go about 2.25 miles to the mid-ridge trailhead, which is about 30-40 feet past the trailhead to the Moanalua Valley hike. Look for a pink ribbon (it's short and looks like a leaf, according to OR) on the right when you cross the stream. Once you leave the road, you should only cross the stream once. If you reach a stream gauging station, you're on the wrong trail. Head back to the road, and go a little further. Be ready for about 2500 in elevation gain, there are some very steep and narrow sections.

Please remember that although the route to the summit is legal, it is still illegal to go on any part of the stairs (metal stairs). You don't need to use the stairs to access the cache.

The cache is not in the building. I lugged an ammo box up there, so go find it.
