Basalt in Dreihausen
In Nordwestlicher Richtung der oben genannten Koordinaten gibt es
gleich fünf Steinbrüche, die Basalt in Dreihausen verladen. Der
größte ist das Werk Nickel II, das in diesen Bildern zu sehen
ist.
Basalt ist ein basisches (SiO2-armes; Siliciumdioxid-armes)
Ergussgestein. Es besteht vor allem aus einer Mischung von Eisen-
und Magnesium-Silikaten (Salze und deren Kondensate) mit Olivin
(Minerale aus der Klasse Silikate) und Pyroxen (minerale aus der
Klasse Silikaten und Germanate) sowie calciumreichem Feldspat
(Plagioklas). Basalt entsteht, wenn dünnflüssiges, kieselsäurearmes
Magma an der Erdoberfläche austritt und relativ schnell zu
Basaltlava erkaltet.
Porphyrisches Gefüge:
Porphyrisches Gefüge ist ein Begriff zur Beschreibung des Gefüges
eines magmatischen Gesteins.
Es ist nach dem typprägenden Gestein, dem Porphyr, benannt.
Das porphyrische Gefüge ist durch deutliche Größenunterschiede der
Minerale im Gestein gekennzeichnet.
Man unterscheidet daher in einem porphyrischen Gestein Grundmasse
und Einsprenglinge.
Das Mengenverhältnis von Grundmasse zu Einsprenglingen ist
variabel.
Die Erscheinungsform erkalteter basaltischer Lava ist hauptsächlich
von zwei Faktoren abhängig. Eruptierte Lava kühlt recht schnell aus
zu einem zusammenhängenden Gesteinsgefüge, das je nach Temperatur
und Gasgehalt als Pahoehoe-Lava (gering viskos) oder als Aa-Lava
(zähflüssig) erstarrt. Findet die Abkühlung jedoch verzögert statt,
entstehen durch das Zusammenziehen nicht selten meterlange eckige
Basaltsäulen (Säulenbasalt), die sich senkrecht zur
Abkühlungsfläche bilden, bevorzugt mit einer hexagonalen
(sechseckigen) Geometrie.
Insgesamt erweisen sich Basalte von ihrer chemischen
Zusammensetzung her als ausgesprochen variable Gesteine, was im
Widerspruch zu ihrem recht einheitlichen Aussehen steht. Je nach
Entstehungszone kann die Mineralzusammensetzung stark
schwanken.
Dieser Earthcache soll nicht nur zur
„erdgeschichtlichen“ Erklärung und Entstehung von
Basalt dienen, sondern gleichzeitig an die deutsche geschichtliche
Vergangenheit erinnern.
Auf Grund der noch täglich stattfindenden Arbeiten in diesem
Steinbruch habe ich mich entschieden, diesen stellvertretend an den
genanten Koordinaten zu veröffentlichen.
Die oben genannten Koordinaten zeigen ein Mahnmal aus
Basaltsteinen.
Am 23. März 1943 wurden mehrere, im Dreihäuser Steinbruch
arbeitende Sinti, nach Ausschwitz deportiert und ermordet.
Es ist nicht nötig, die Ruhe dieses Ortes zu stören!

Basalt in Dreihausen
In northwest direction of the coordinates specified above there are
five quarries, which ship basalt from Dreihausen. The largest is
the work nickel II, which is to be seen in these
pictures.

Basalt is an alkaline (SiO2-poor; Silicon dioxide poor) effusive
rock. It consists particularly of a mixture of iron and
magnesium-silicates (salts and their condensates) with olivine
(minerals of the class of silicates) and pyroxene (minerals from
the class silicates and germanates) as well as calcium-rich
feldspar (plagioclase).
Basalt develops if thin fluid, silicic acid-poor magma withdraws at
the earth's surface and cools down relatively fast to basalt
lava.
Porphyry structure:
Porphyry structure is a term to describe the structure of magmatic
rocks.
It is named after the type-coining rock, the porphyry.
The porphyry structure is characterized by clear size differences
of the minerals in the rock.
One differentiates in a porphyry rock basic dimensions and
inclusions.
The quantitative proportion from basic dimension to inclusions is
variable.
The form of appearance of cooled down basaltic lava depends mainly
on two factors. Erupted lava cools quite fast to a connected rock
structure, which, depending upon temperature and gas content
solidifies as Pahoehoe lava (small viscous) or as Aa lava
(viscous). But if the cooling is delayed instead of, pretty often
metres-long angled basalt columns (columnar basalt) result of
contraction, which were formed vertical to the cooling surface in
favor with a hexagonal geometry.
Altogether basalts, seen from their chemical composition, prove to
be as expressed variable rocks, which contradicts in their quite
uniform appearance. Depending upon the developing zone the mineral
composition can vary strongly.
This earthcache is not to exemplify only the „geological
history” explanation and emergence of basalt, this one shall
remind at the same time to the German historical past.
Because of the daily happening work in this quarry I have decided
to publish this one representative at the above mentioned
coordinates.
The coordinates specified above show a memorial of basalt
stones.
On 23. March 1943 several Sinti, working in the Dreihausen quarries
were deported to Ausschwitz and murdered.
It is not necessary to disturb the peace of this
place!
