Estaines Parva
Estaines Parva, otherwise known
as Little Easton.
Where does one start? This
church is an absolute treasure house, please don’t cache and
dash but make a visit inside. The church guides are an object
lesson in how these things should be done. Enter to find out about
secret passageways, beautiful medieval wall paintings and
instruments of punishment!
Look carefully at the
inscription on the font and notice that it is a greek palindrome
(translates as “Cleanse not only my head but my
soul”).
The “American”
chapel commemorates the 386th USAF Bombardment Group who
were based here during WWII.
The cache
You’re looking for a 35mm
film canister. The cache has a log book but no pen so please bring
one with you.
I’ve marked this one as
accessible, if you’re in a wheelchair – you’ll
need to be able to bend down to ground level to get the
cache.
