FI: Itä-Suomen hovioikeus, entiseltä nimeltään Viipurin hovioikeus, on perustettu vuonna 1839. Toimittuaan 100 vuotta Viipurissa hovioikeus siirtyi talvisodan johdosta Heinolan kautta Kuopioon vuonna 1940. Hovioikeuden nimi muutettiin 2.3.1945 annetulla asetuksella Itä-Suomen hovioikeudeksi.
Itä-Suomen hovioikeus sijaitsee Kuopion keskustassa Puistokadun ja Minna Canthin kadun kulmassa noin kilometrin etäisyydellä linja-autoasemalta ja rautatieasemalta. Hovioikeus toimii kahdessa rakennuksessa. Päärakennuksen ensimmäisessä kerroksessa on kirjaamo ja toisessa kerroksessa istuntosalit odotustiloineen. Puolikaaren muotoisessa lisärakennuksessa on henkilökunnan työhuoneet.

UK: Court of Appeal of Eastern Finland [Translator’s note: in Finnish legal system, hovioikeus is the second highest judicial body in the hierarchy of the court of justice, and, therefore, it is not fully equivalent term to Court of Appeal], former Viipuri Court of Appeal, was established in 1839. After having functioned for 100 years in Viipuri (a former Finnish town, which was lost to Russia during the war in 1944), the Court of Appeal was relocated because of the Finnish Winter War (Talvisota, 1939-1940) first in Heinola and then in Kuopio in 1940. The name of Court of Appeal was changed into Court of Appeal of Eastern Finland in 1945.
Court of Appeal of Eastern Finland is situated in the centre of Kuopio, in the corner of the streets Puistokatu and Minna Canthin katu about a kilometre from the bus station and the railway station. It functions in two separate buildings. In the main building, the ground floor houses the registry office and, in the first floor, there are session halls with waiting rooms. In the crescent-shaped annex, there are personnel’s offices.

ES: El Tribunal de Apelaciones del Este de Finlandia [Nota del traductor: en el sistema judicial de Finlandia, hovioikeus se refiere al Tribunal de Segunda Instancia y no equivale completamente el término español Tribunal de Apelaciones], anteriormente Viipuri Tribunal de Apelaciones, fue establecido en 1839. Después de funcionar 100 años en Viipuri (una antigua ciudad de Finlandia que fue perdido a Rusia durante la guerra en 1940) , el Tribunal de Apelaciones fue trasladado primero a Heinola, y después a Kuopio debido a la Guerra de Invierno de Finlandia (1939-1940). El nombre del Tribunal de Apelaciones fue cambiado al Tribunal de Apelaciones del Este de Finlandia el 2 de marzo en 1945 por la legislación.
El Tribunal de Apelaciones está ubicado en el centro de Kuopio, en la esquína de las calles Puistokatu y Minna Canthin katu approximadamente a una distancia de un kilometro de la estación de autobuses y trenes. El Tribunal de Apelaciones funciona en dos edificios separados.
