Geocache Description:

Come visit the historic church of St. Andrews in Rochford.

St. Andrew’s is built mostly of brick and dates largely from a rebuild in the 15th century. There is a big brick tower, and a pair of half timbered gables. In the former church on the site, Henry Bolingbroke married Mary de Bohun (mother of Henry V). Henry later seized the crown as Henry IV. In the graveyard is buried Joseph Banyard, who founded the 19th century sect the Peculiar People in Rochford.

St. Andrews church is positioned quite separately from the town, in deference to the owners of Rochford Hall, which has been the home of the famous, including Lord Rich, who enlarged the building, added the tower to the church and the ancient almshouses and the Boleyns, whose daughter Anne married Henry VIII and was mother of the first great Queen Elizabeth and whose other daughter Mary inherited the Hall. During WW2 it housed airmen and is now the home of the Rochford Hundred Golf Club which surrounds the church.

If you park at the sugested location, you'll need to walk through the churchyard to find the cache which is not on church property. If you haven't already found it, why not find my "In Anne Boleyns Footsteps" cache at the same time (GC1ED7M).

If any body would like to expand to this series please do, could you please let sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication
