Clark County, Nevada is celebrating their centennial birthday this year. As part of the celebration some Geocaches (ten all together) were placed at historic places in Clark County. We hope you appreciate learning about the great history of our great county. Please visit the special website for more information about yearlong events plus a list of all ten caches. http://www.accessclarkcounty.com/100 SUNSET PARK – HOUSSELS HORSE RANCH Sunset Park was originally a ranch in the Paradise area of the Vegas valley. John Kell Houssels, Sr., eventually acquired the ranch and raised Thoroughbred horses here, building a practice track for their training. Acquired by Clark County in 1967 to be the county’s first regional park, improvements began quickly, with the pool finally being added in 1974. In 1993 Parks and Recreation Department Administration headquarters was consolidated at the park, which continues as an important regional park for the Vegas valley.
