Boston T Party Traditional Cache

This cache has been archived.

karen rinora: Much as I hate to, I must archive this one due to concerns for cachers' safety.
The neighbour adjacent (cream house, north of cemetery) has a rather unfriendly (she has even bitten the bylaw officer) dog that runs loose (along with her 4 pups), creating a safety risk to cemetery visitors.

Geocache Description:

This is in Boston Cemetery, located near the intersection of the Cockshutt Road and Norfolk County Road 19.

Please, out of respect for the locals, NO NIGHT CACHING

Boston Cemetery is the resting place for 389 people, many of whom were United Empire Loyalists. Many came to rest here before their 25th birthdays. Some were alive when the original Boston Tea Party occurred on December 16, 1773, namely:
Peter Elder Fairchild(1762-1828)
his wife, Sarah Fairchild (1763-1817)
John Johnson (1758-1831)
his wife, Mary Johnson (1772-1859)
David Phelps (1768-1833)

Because of the rather fragile nature and age of many of the headstones, this cache is recommended for adults only, and is definitely a “daytime only” adventure. Most of the headstones are nearly 200 years old, so this place should appeal to the history buffs. I am told that a church once stood across the road, but it was destroyed by fire. Please be very careful when moving through the cemetery, and pause to wonder what the Fairchild, Johnson and Phelps families might have been doing on that day back in December, 1773.
