PRINCESA DO ALVA [COJA]
Reza a
lenda que, em tempos, um Rei e uma Rainha, ainda jovens, partiram
do palácio onde viviam para iniciarem uma viagem pelo
reino.
Quando chegaram a Côja, ao depararem-se com as águas
cristalinas do rio Alva e as suas verdejantes margens, repletas de
salgueiros e amieiros, os reis ficaram profundamente encantados.
Face a este deslumbramento pelas inúmeras belezas naturais,
decidiram ficar nesta localidade durante algum tempo. Mandaram
então erguer um castelo para que se pudessem instalar e desfrutar
de tudo aquilo que os seus olhos não se cansavam de
contemplar.
Aqui se mantiveram, gozando de uma enorme
felicidade, até que um dia as suas vidas tornaram-se ainda mais
felizes, ao serem abençoados com o nascimento de uma linda menina.
A princesinha foi crescendo, e, certo dia, os pais começaram a
levá-la ao rio, no fundo do vale. No percurso, e mesmo no belo
areal que o rio possuía, a menina ia sempre calçadinha, com uns
finos sapatinhos. Ao chegar perto do rio, a princesa descalçava-se,
molhava os pés, e tomava o seu banho, após o qual regressava ao
castelo já calçada.
Este hábito prolongou-se durante bastante tempo,
facto pelo qual a praia ficou conhecida por
“calçadinha”. A princesa aqui viveu toda a sua vida,
sendo sempre muito estimada por toda a população.
Foi assim que ficou eternamente conhecida
“Côja -Princesa do Alva”.

“calçadinha” with some fine shoes. Arriving near the
river, the princess was barefoot, wet feet, and took his bath,

This habit is continued for a long time,
for which the beach was known as “calçadinha”. The
princess lived here all his life, being always estimated by the
whole population.
