Castle Rock (Coromandel) Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

funkymunkyzone: Archiving this one on the basis that the cache has materially changed from what we intended - it was intended as a nice easy, pretty short, walk from the car park, where there are great views, for those not inclined to climb all the way to the top. Since it seems the gates 2.5kms back down the hill now get closed and locked, it's a 2.5km slog up the hill to even get this one, meaning most will go all the way to the top anyway - this cache is therefore kind of redundant and won't be replaced.

Geocache Description:

CASTLE ROCK

Castle Rock is part of an ancient volcano, and evidence of it's violent creation can be witnessed in it's impressive and rugged appearance.

This cache is here for those passing by on their way to the summit, which is quite a climb, as well as those who are not prepared or able to attempt the ascent. The view from the carpark (at about 350m from sea level), nearby to the cache, is still magnificent.

The cache is located a short distance up the track from the carpark area.
