Geocache Description:

Cache is a camo'd 35mm film pot containing log only . Please bring your own pen and pencil.

Please ensure to re hide well.

Cache approach is on a metaled lane next to St Deny's Church also known as The Minster.

There has been a church on this site from Saxon times. The chancel, tower and Lady chapel date from the 11th,14th and 15th centuries respectively.

From 1887 to 1889 the Minster was mostly rebuilt in the perpendicular style by Sir Arthur Blomfield. The only remains of the old church are the central tower, south wall of the chancel and the south porch.

Sir James Erasmus Philipps who was the rector during most of the second half of the nineteenth century founded St. Boniface's College and St. Denys's Home. He raised the money for rebuilding the church, founded St. John's Church together with a school in Boreham Road, Warminster cottage hospital, orphanages and a girls' school. An average of 1,400 people attended his Sunday evening services.

If anybody would like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first so he can keep track of the Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
