L’histoire de Lorentzen est étroitement liée à celle du château. Construit au début du XIVe siècle sous forme de Wasserburg par le comte Frédéric II de Saarwerden, le château est donné en partie en caution à l’archevêque de Trêves pour des raisons économiques. En 1527, il passe aux Nassau Saarebrucken par le mariage entre Catherine de Saarwerden et Johan Ludwig de Nassau Sarrebruck. À la suite de difficultés financières, il est tenu en bail pendant plus de 100 ans par la famille Steyss von Gornetz. À la fin du XVIIIe siècle, il est repris par la famille de Nassau Sarrebruck qui en fait le château douairière jusqu’à la révolution. Il est vendu comme bien national en 1793 et est converti en exploitation agricole. Il appartient aujourd’hui à 8 propriétaires différents qui se partagent 9 parties du château. Depuis 2008, une partie du site castral est occupé par un C.I.N.E. (Centre d'Initiative à la Nature et à l'Environnement) celui de La Grange aux Paysages. La grange à dîme du 16e siècle accueille la partie pédagogique ainsi que l'exposition "Secrets de paysage" que vous pouvez visiter aux horaires d'ouverture de l'office de tourisme qui partage les locaux, l'ancien moulin du 16e l'hébergement. Le projet conduit par la Communauté de Communes d'Alsace Bossue et réalisé par l'agence d'architecture dwpa,architectes est l'occasion d'une remise en valeur de tout l'espace central du village. L'ancienne brasserie "Lorentzator" du 19e siècle située à proximité du château doit aussi renaître sous la forme d'une micro-brasserie.

Built in the early 14th century as Wasserburg by the earl Frédéric II of Saarwerden, the castle was given in part as a guarantee to the archbishop of Trêves for economic reasons. In 1527, it was given to Nassau Saarbrucken through the marriage between Catherine of Saarwerden and Johan Ludwig of Nassau Sarrebruck. Due to some financial difficulties, it is held in lease for more than 100 years by the Steyss von Gornetz family. At the end of the 18th century, it was taken over by the Nassau Sarrbruck family who made it the Dowager castle until the revolution. It was sold as a national property in 1793 and converted in a farm. Today, it belongs to 8 different owners who share the 9 parts of the castle. Since 2008, a part of the castle is occupied by a C.I.N.E (Initiative Center for Nature and Environment). The tithe barn from the 16th century welcome now the educational part and the old mill from the 16th welcome the accommodation. The project led by the community of municipalities of Alsace Bossue and produced by the architectural firm DWPA,Architectes is an opportunity for redevelopment of the entire central area of the village. The old brewery ''Lorentzator” from the 19th century located near the castle must also reborn as a micro-brewery.
