Geocache Description:

This cache belongs to the SideTracked series.

It is not designed to take you to a magical place with a breath taking view. Its a distraction for the weary traveller, but anyone else can go and find it too.

Burnham on Crouch is perhaps the prettiest station on the Crouch Valley Line (formerly the Southminster Branch line), a single tracked branch line running between Wickford and Southminster.
The line itself was saved from the Beeching axe in 1964 as it supplied the nearby Bradwell Power Station.

Burnham on Crouch is probably the largest settlement on the Dengie peninsula and is well worth a visit. The river front and yachting marinas are only a short walk away.
In addition for train enthusiasts there is the nearby Mangapps Railway Museum which despite having roughly a mile of track laid was never part of the rail network. The rolling stock includes a collection of steam and diesel locomotives. (visit link)
