STONELEIGH BAPTIST CHURCH
The origins of the
Church go back to 1934, when Christians who were moving into
Stoneleigh as part of the development of surburbia saw the need to
meet together. In 1962 the main Church building was opened,
enabling the original building to be used as a Church Hall. A
further major redevelopment was begun in the summer of 1997 and was
completed in 1998. This involved the demolition and rebuilding of
all but the main church building. Though a rather modern church,
the architect has succeeded in combining the old with the new and
Stoneleigh Baptist Church looks like a church, something missing in
a lot of “new” church buildings.
The cache is not
hidden near the church, you will have to visit the three waypoints
below to gather the information you require to find the final
coordinates.
Waypoint 1 will get you to a Notice Board, just around the
corner from here you can find the following information:
The dates “Sonny” was born and died, add the numbers together of
the date BORN for C. Do the same with numbers of the year he
DIED for D.
Some other numbers are shown (* Cor * v*) use these three numbers
for E, F & G.
Now you will need to walk a bit more to find A and
B.
Return to the Notice Board and continue walking towards Stoneleigh
Broadway down The Glade, take not the first, or the second but take
the third on your right Woodstone Avenue. You need to go
this way to pick up the other clues.
Waypoint 2 will take you further down Woodstone Avenue:
Here you need to find a single number; we will call this
B.
Waypoint 3 takes you even further down Woodstone Avenue:
Lots of numbers here, you are looking for the ones directly under
DP, these three we will call A.
By the time you get to the third clue location it should obvious
where you are heading.
Now, the sums:
N51 E+F+G . A+D+3
W000 (C+G)/2 . (B*3)*D-(E+G)
I had intended to hide this in Nonsuch Park but considered the A24
to be rather too busy to cross. The cache has a log book but no
pencil, Please bring one with you. Please take care, lots of dog
walkers!
In winter/wet weather
it gets rather muddy. Although all the paths are flat, I would not
recommend it to wheelchair users, when it is wet you will find the
going tough with a stroller, particularly going back up the hill
Plenty of free parking at all locations. However please take care
when crossing roads.
If any body would
like to expand to this series please do, I would just ask that you
could let SADEXPLORATION know first so he can keep track of the
Church numbers and names to avoid duplication.
