La piazza centrale di Roma, dove si concentra il maggior traffico,
ma anche molte cose belle da vedere in breve tempo.
The central
square in Rome, where the traffic is chaotic, but with also many
beautiful things to see if you have a short time for
visiting.

Piazza Venezia è una celebre piazza di Roma. È situata ai piedi del Campidoglio, dove si incrociano alcune fra le più importanti strade del centro della capitale: via dei Fori Imperiali, via del Corso, via del Plebiscito. La piazza ha subito in passato (tra la fine dell'Ottocento e l'inizio del Novecento) numerosi interventi di demolizione e ricostruzione che l’hanno portata all’assetto attuale. Il Vittoriano, costruito a cavallo dei due secoli, è il colossale monumento a Vittorio Emanuele II (spesso erroneamente identificato con l'Altare della Patria, che in realtà ne è solo una parte), scherzosamente soprannominato "Macchina da scrivere".
Il Vittoriano conserva i resti del Milite Ignoto, a
ricordo dei soldati caduti senza degna sepoltura, vegliati
incessantemente da due militari e da una fiamma sempre accesa. Il complesso del Vittoriano ospita periodicamente importanti mostre, oltre al Sacrario delle bandiere.
Il Palazzo Venezia (lato ovest) fu inizialmente sede pontificia. Successivamente, dal 1564 al 1797, ospitò la rappresentanza veneziana presso lo Stato Pontificio. Fu poi ambasciata dell'Impero Austro-Ungarico fino al 1914, quando fu confiscato dallo Stato. Nel periodo del Fascismo, Benito Mussolini lo scelse come sede del Governo e dal balcone pronunciava i suoi discorsi.
Di fronte al palazzo Venezia è stato innalzato, ai primi del Novecento, il Palazzo delle Assicurazioni Generali di Venezia, la cui facciata (architetto Giuseppe Sacconi) riprende le linee essenziali del più antico palazzo che lo fronteggia; è ornato da un leone di San Marco prelevato da un bastione delle mura di Padova. Oltre a Palazzo Venezia, della sistemazione originaria della piazza si è conservato il lato nord con il Palazzo Bonaparte, dove visse Letizia Ramolino, madre di Napoleone.
Durante il periodo natalizio nella piazza è collocato un grande abete decorato mentre all'incrocio con via del Corso la pedana rialzata per i vigili urbani (figura 1), che per anni è stata elemento di ispirazione per molti film e spot pubblicitari è stata recentemente sostituita da una pedana mobile a scomparsa.

VEN1 A queste coordinate vi troverete vicino all’asta in ferro di una delle bandiere poste al lato della piazza. Sulla base di tale palo sono visibili in rilievo delle lettere, inserite in un tondo, pure in rilievo. Assegnate a ciascuna delle lettere il proprio numero d’ordine nell’alfabeto italiano (a=1, b=2, etc). A = Somma dei numeri trovati

VEN2 A queste coordinate vi dovreste trovare davanti un cartello turistico che descrive la chiesa di Santa Maria di Loreto, ma al momento ci sono dei lavori in corso. Guardate comunque alla vs. sinistra e vi troverete di fronte delle targhe marmoree affisse sul muro.
N = numero delle targhe affisse sulla parete
C = data scritta sulla targa in alto
D = numero delle parole complessivamente presenti sulla seconda targa dall’alto
E = numero delle lettere complessivamente presenti nelle prime 4 righe della seconda targa dall’alto.

VEN3 Alle coordinate indicate vi troverete in una piazza lunga e stretta, su cui sono presenti dei lampioni in ferro come quello della figura 2.

VEN4 Andate sotto al balcone da cui Mussolini proclamava i suoi discorsi. Sulla facciata del palazzo ci sono 6 piccole placche di travertino con sopra scritto lo stesso numero di tre cifre.

Piazza Venezia is a famous square in Rome. It is situated
at the foot of the Campidoglio, where some of the most important streets of the capital meet, via dei Fori Imperiali, Via del Corso, Via del Plebiscito.
The square has undergone in the past (between the late nineteenth and early twentieth century) many demolitions and reconstructions that led to the present structure. The Vittoriano, built around the turn of two centuries, is the colossal monument to Vittorio Emanuele II (often erroneously identified with the Altare della Patria, which in reality is only a part of it), jokingly nicknamed “The Typewriter”.
The Vittoriano preserves the remains of the Unknown Soldier in memory of soldiers fallen without decent burial, watched by two soldiers and a flame all the time.
The Vittoriano complex periodically houses important exhibitions, in addition to the Shrine of flags.
The Palazzo Venezia (west side of the square) was initially a papal seat. Subsequently, from 1564 to 1797, hosted the Venetian embassy at the Papal States. It then was Embassy of the Austro-Hungarian Empire until 1914, when it was confiscated by the State. During the period of Fascism, Benito
Mussolini chose it as the seat of the government and from the
Balcony he called his speeches.
In front of Palazzo Venezia, at the beginning of the twentieth century the Palazzo delle Assicurazioni Generali was built. Its facade (by architect Giuseppe Sacconi) takes the broad outlines of the oldest building that faces and is decorated with a lion of San Marco taken from a bastion of the walls of Padua. In addition to Palazzo Venezia, the original arrangement of the square has kept the north side with the Palazzo Bonaparte, where Letizia Ramolino, mother of Napoleon, lived.
During Christmas period there is a big decorated tree in the square. At the intersection with Via del Corso the elevated platform for “vigile urbano” (Municipal police), which for years was part of inspiration for many films and commercials (picture 1) was recently replaced by a mobile floating platform.

VEN1 At this coordinates you should be close to one of the flag poles placed at the side of the square. At the foot of this pole some letters in relief, enclosed in a circle, should be visible. Assign to each letter its serial number in the
ITALIAN alphabet (a = 1, b = 2, etc).

VEN2 At this coordinates you should be in front of a tourist plate describing the church of Santa Maria di Loreto, but probably there are some works going on. Nevertheless look at your left and you're in front of some marble plaques posted on the wall.

E = total number of letters in the first 4 rows of the second plaque.
F = Sum of the two dates (years) written on the bottom plaque

VEN3 The coordinates should take you in the middle of a long and narrow square, with many iron lampposts as that of Picture 2.

Go under the Balcony from where Mussolini proclaimed his speeches. On the front of the building there are 6 small travertine plaques, showing the same three digit number.
The first two digits are L.
P = Number of elephant statues you can see on the Vittoriano from below the Balcony.

To all the "Not Italian speaking people":
Many logs point out the "XXX larger then 999" error.
It mainly depends on a not correct reading of the VEN1 action. To avoid this please read carefully all the words in the sentence and if nothing else works try to suppose to be Italian!! Reading old logs can be usefull too!
