Geocache Description:

The Cache is not at the above coordinates which are just for parking

>
The CacheWalker idea came from a group I joined while on holiday in UK.   "http://www.cachewalker.co.uk/"> CacheWalker UK.
Golf is a good walk spoilt! CacheWalker is a good walk improved by having caches to find on the route.
The concept is simple.A series of caches set out on a roughly circular walk, that encourages outdoor exercise, combined with caching and great scenery. In principle the walks are of varying lengths, but an indication of the total length is always given, and the caches should be evenly spaced to keep the interest going, and there is a description of the total route for those that don't have maps or mapping GPS. Of course they may be done by bicycle, but they should really be in areas that discourage the use of 4x4 or motorbikes.
An enhancement is that in each cache there is part of the coordinates for a Bonus cache which again is located towards the end of the circular walk.

The first one, CacheWalker - Porto de Mos, is a walk of around 7 km/2 hours, during which you may find 5 individual caches and a bonus cache. All are simple to find and have hints to make it easier. Unfortunately, what was once an easy circular track has now been disrupted by unsympathetic building and fencing in the area, so there are a few places where the path is less obvious and you may have to rely on your GPS.
Also be aware that you may pass through pine trees which have been attacked by processionary caterpillars, and in Spring when these come down to the ground they can be dangerous for dogs, and also should not be touched by humans as they can cause severe allergic reactions.

For those that don't have maps, here is a brief description of the walk:-
From the given coordinates at Porto de Mos carpark walk west up the path to the cliff top, passing the sign for Antonio's on the left.
After some distance, Luz comes into view and you must turn right
towards the large Trig Point. Here there are 2 options, the first more scenic!
(1) At the Trig Point turn left and go along
a path which runs along the slope and keep as much height as possible.
You are aiming to pass in front of the new house on the cliff top which
has fences all round. The path runs along the fence of this house and
as you reach the end you see a mobile phone mast. Stay with the fence
until you reach the golf course and follow the hedge close to the edge
of the course until you reach a gap onto the road turn left and head
east.
(2) Turn right and follow the fence with wooden poles through a plantation of low umbrella pines. As the fence finally turns left, there is a white post and a track runs north between the two new building plots to the road where you turn right.

(1) & (2) Keep on the road until you see the entrance to 'Atalaia
Velha' on the right and take the track which forks left. closer to the
golf course. When this track reaches a fence turn right and go back to
the road and turn left. About 100 m after Quinta Romazeira take a wide
track to the right. Pass Villa lapa and turn left at the T-junction.
After some ruins fork left towards some more ruins. After these there
is a T-junction - turn right and follow the track round a bend. Turn
left with two small buildings on left. Continue ignoring a track to the
right. Carefully go past some beehives on the right behind some bushes,
and follow faint path though two large bushes and then head about 160
degrees until you meet a wider track coming in from your left. Head
towards the sea until you meet  a T-junction.
Turn left and follow the path back to the Car Park.

PLEASE CLOSE THE CACHE CONTAINER PROPERLY _ IT DOES RAIN HERE SOMETIMES!!!
