3rd Annual Holi-daze at Bays |
|
Come join the TriCities Geocachers at
Bays Mountain Park in
Kingsport, Tennessee for a little holiday geocaching social from
10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. (official park closing hour). The
coordinates for this event will bring you to the park entrance. The
Nature Center is located further up the mountain where both the
lake and animal habitats are located. There is a $3.00 entrance fee
per day. This event will appeal to geocachers who mountain bike,
hike or seek easy walking caches. Place this event on your
watchlist for any updated information. The first 40 geocachers who
log a will attend and actually attend the event will receive a
little something extra when they arrive!
The park has many caches already
in place and both cache owners and previous finders will be
available to help those who haven't found these yet if needed.
There are some caches new to the park since last year. The bookmark
list which is now part of the cache page has 36 caches
now--everything from the event cache, traditionals, puzzles,
multicaches, letterboxes, and earthcache. The possibility of
getting six different cache icons in one day is GREAT! Come to the
Discovery Theatre to sign in (see VATechnoTeacher for the sign-in
sheet), register for door prizes, and ask for directions or
suggestions for your cache adventures!
There will be a geocacher version of
a
White Elephant gift exchange for those interested--bring a gift
and get a gift. If you feel particularly 'evil spirited' you can
also take a gift away from someone else. The rules will be further
explained on the day of the event
Mountain bikers
are welcome to explore the many mountain bike approved trails and
roads in the park. Motorized vehicles are NOT allowed anywhere
except the park paved roads leading to the parking lots around the
Nature Center. The park does allow dogs as visitors in all areas
EXCEPT around the animal enclosures.
Bring a slow cooker full of your
favorite recipe to share for lunch--soup, casserole,
dessert--anything can be cooked in a slow cooker! We could use
chips, dips, cheese logs as appetizers, side dishes, desserts, and
drinks as well. Please include an idea of what you'll bring so
that we can update the food list for the event to help everyone
with their food planning. We'll have extension cords, tables,
plates, bowls, napkins, and plasticware for the event! We will have
a schedule of events--all completely optional, so pick and choose
which events are of interest.
