Geocache Description:

This traditional cache is in an ammo can near Lassen Park and is not difficult to find. It contains a travel bug and some history of the site. It is possible to drive to with in 200 yards of the cache.

Take highway 44 east of Redding, Ca. toward Lassen Park. Approximately one mile before
Lassen Park (approx. one mile west of the entrance to the park) is U.S. Forrest Service Road #
N17. Go south on N17 approximately 100 yards to the power lines. On the left there will be a
marker for the Nobles Trail. The trail is a dirt road which will generally follow the power lines.
Follow the power lines in an easterly direction. If you have a car, park near the Nobles Trail
marker and follow your GPS for a about a 3/4's of a mile. It’s an easy hike to the cache site.

If you have a 4X4 vehicle you can drive to within a couple of hundred yards of the site, but, do
not drive past the old yellow gate! You will be close to the park boundary so caution and
common and sense are the rules here.

The cache is a ammo can with prizes which may be exchanged. It also contains a “travel bug. If you can give the bug a long ride to another cache, take him with you. Also in the
cache are copies of postcard picturers taken of this site in “1914". Look closely at the photos and
take a short walk a little further up the road to the red posts which mark the park boundary line.
There you can see past the trees and view the same scenic view the photographer did in 1914.
The photographer was B. F. Loomis. For a brief history on Loomis and the park, go to biography
