Geocache Description:

World Wide Flash Mob IV

A Flash Mob event is were a group of people turn up in a public area and do something unexpected, and then quickly disperse leaving muggles wondering what has just happened!

They are generally non geocaching specific, but Podcacher came up with the idea to have simultaneous Geocaching Flash Mob Events world wide. This is just one of many being held around the world at the exact same time. Have a look at SquamLoon's bookmark list for all of the events.

Where:

For this event we are going to meet at the above co-ordinates, which are midway between the castle and the cathedral at the top of The Steep in Lincoln.

Time:
Saturday 8th November at precisely 6pm GMT dispersing at exactly 6:15pm GMT. So don't be late as we will not be waiting and you must interact with the event to log a find.

Instructions:
It is very important that these instructions are followed.

You must arrive just before 6pm, but do not congregate at the co-ords and do not bunch together chatting. You must ignore other geocachers and blend in with the general public - there are usually plenty of tourists here so this should be easy enough to do. Keeping a distance of 50-100 metres away from the co-ords would be good.
Doing this will mean that we will appear to come out of nowhere and muggles won't know what is happening. This is part of the fun.
Being so close to the law courts which are situated in the castle and with our fondness for swag, the theme for this event is cops and robbers. Please come in some way as a policeman or a thief, no need to get too worried, a helmet, mask, stripey tee-shirt or, best of all, a large bag marked swag will all suffice. (Remember that this disguise must be hidden until 6pm)

Schedule:

6pm - At exactly 6pm by your gps arrive at GZ, I will have an ammo can which will be the 'log book', any cops or robbers present between 6 and 6.15 will be able to log the event. Please bring a ready made log sheet with your caching id clearly shown, it would be a really good idea to wear a sticky label with your caching name on it too. No Log, No Find! Please bring along your own pen/pencil for any last minute notes, there won't be time to wait for others to finish using their pens.

6.02pm - TB and coin swap, big swag swap plus Geocaching bingo - please download a card from (visit link) if you are able to, I will have some with me though. Prize for the person with the most at 6.10.

For the big swag swap I will bring a large container of things that always seem to be too big to fit in a cache, it will be geared especially (but not exclusively) towards children so bring some super swaps and get some great swag.

6:11pm - Group photo, please can someone bring a digital camera for this.

6:15pm - Event ends. I will close the ammo can then walk away. Everyone do exactly the same, but not all in the same direction. Hopefully leaving behind a good few bemused muggles!!

***PRIZES OF GEOCOINS AND EPHEMERA ARE KINDLY BEING DONATED BY A CACHER IN LINCOLN CITY, OREGON, USA, SO WILL BE UNIQUE FOR A UK EVENT***

Socialising afterwards:

We have a lot of children coming so will find a venue for this on the day, there are a couple of pubs that might let us in with the children en masse in the vicinity. Please note that socialising afterwards does not count as attending the event.

Transport:

There are train and bus links to Lincoln from the surrounding areas. There is limited parking on the street around N53.14.118 W000.32.325 Eastgate/Greetwell Gate as long as you arrive no earlier than 5pm. There are also many paying car parks in the area. For those who have never been to Lincoln before, I strongly recommend parking at the bottom of the city and getting the full experience of climbing The Steep where you can imagine the rivers of blood that once flowed down these very streets and look up at the Cathedral which used to be the tallest building in the world.

Dogs:

Dogs are welcome at the event, as it is in a open public place. This will restrict you from coming for a chat afterwards though.

Note:

This event will be happening come rain or shine. So be prepared for the weather please.

Help Required:

If anyone can record the event and place it on Youtube I know the geocaching world would be grateful!

PLEASE TELL YOUR CACHING FRIENDS SO WE CAN MAKE THIS A SUCCESSFUL CHANCE TO MEET OTHER LOCAL CACHERS!
