Firgas es un municipio español perteneciente a la provincia de Las Palmas (Canarias). Está situado en el norte de la isla de Gran Canaria. Se la conoce también como el balcón del Atlántico por sus vistas sobre dicho océano y de todo el norte, este y oeste de la isla.
Originariamente, Firgas era conocida por los aborígenes con el nombre de Afurgad (Atalaya). Más tarde, ya en el siglo XVI, aparece el nombre de Firgas de Afurgad.
La población es de 7.369 habitantes (INE, 2007). Los Barrios de Firgas son Buenlugar, La Cruz, Los Lomitos, El Risco, Acebuche, La Caldera, Casablanca, Quintanilla, Rosales, Cambalud, Trapiche, Barranco de Las Madres, San Antón, Zumacal, siendo este último barrio el más alto y Quintanilla el más bajo sin que llegue a tocar el mar. La cota media de altura es de 450 sobre el nivel del mar.
Entre sus lugares de interés turístico destaca el barranco de las Mil Fuentes y la iglesia parroquial, el Molino de harina y gofio, y un patrimonio natural al estar enclavado en el centro del Parque Natural Monte Doramas, además de yacimientos arqueológicos datados entre los más antiguos de la isla. De interés turístico también es el casco de la Villa, con una plaza y una fuente en cascada que ocupa una de sus empinadas calles donde se pueden observar mosaicos traídos de Sevilla con estampas de las Islas Canarias y de los 21 municipios de la isla de Gran Canaria. En el 2006 se reabrió El Hostal en la montaña de Firgas que tuvo que ser remodelado al ser abandonado en la década de los 80 por filtraciones de aguas y mala calidad de los materiales.
La principal riqueza de Firgas es la hostelería con varios asaderos en La Cruz, El Risco y en La Caldera. También la agricultura, destacando los cultivos de plátanos, papas (patatas) y hortalizas. En el municipio se encuentra un balneario y una fábrica embotelladora de agua que lleva el mismo nombre que la localidad aguas mineromedicinales conocida en el archipiélago.
En el mes de agosto, Firgas celebra la festividad de su santo Patrono San Roque, fiestas en la que destacan la "Traída del Palo" cuya finalidad es festejar el porte de un póster de madera y alzar la bandera del patrón San Roque, después de haber llevado el Palo por todas las calles del pueblo en medio de la algarabía y la musica de charanga. Otro acto es la romería-ofrenda en la que cada barrio y los romeros en general, construyen sus carretas que llenan de tipismo y ofrendas que son entregadas a los pies del santo patrón para ayudar a los más necesitados.
La Villa de Firgas cuenta con grupos culturales entre los que destaca la Sociedad Liceo de Firgas que en 2007 cumplió su 75 aniversario. También Firgas posee colectivos musicales como son el Patronato Escuela de Música de Firgas, la Coral de la Villa de Firgas. En música folclórica contó con el grupo Los Berreros y actualmente con el grupo la Parranda de Firgas y el cuerpo de baile "Miguel Gil"; en los carnavales destaca la murga Los Relinchones Endiablados, participante anual en el carnaval de Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

Firgas is a Spanish town belonging to the province of Las Palmas (Canary Islands). Located in the north of the island of Gran Canaria. It is also known as the balcony of Atlanta for their views on the ocean and around the north, east and west of the island.
Originally, Firgas was known by Aboriginals under the name Afurgad (Watchtower). Later, back in the sixteenth century, is the name of Firgas of Afurgad.
The population is 7,369 inhabitants (INE, 2007). The Barrios de Firgas are Buenlugar, La Cruz, Los Lomitas, El Risco, Acebuche, La Caldera, Casablanca, Quintanilla, Rosales, Cambalud, Trapiche, Barranco de Las Madres, San Anton, Zumacal, the latter being the highest neighborhood and Quintanilla the lowest without touching it reaches the sea. Among its attractions highlights the ravine of the Thousand Fuentes and the parish church, the flour mill and gofio, and a natural heritage to be located in the center of Mount Doramas Nature Reserve, as well as archaeological sites dating among older of the island. The main asset is Firgas hospitality with several asaderos in La Cruz, El Risco and in La Caldera. Also agriculture, stressing crops of bananas, potatoes (potatoes) and vegetables. The town is a spa and a water bottling factory that bears the same name as the town known mineral water in the archipelago.
In August, Firgas celebrates the festival of its patron saint San Roque, parties in highlighting the "brought the Palo" which aims to celebrate the carrying of a poster of wood and raise the flag pattern of San Roque, after have led the Palo by all the village streets amid the racket and music charango. Another event is the festival-an offering in which every neighborhood and the pilgrims in general, who built their carts filled with typical and offerings that are delivered to the feet of patron saint to help the neediest.
The town of Firgas has cultural groups among them the League of Liceo Firgas that in 2007 completed its 75 anniversary. It also owns Firgas collective musical such as the Board of Firgas School of Music, the Coral de la Villa de Firgas.
