Kaunas Fortress (Lithuanian: Kauno tvirtove) is the remains of a fortress complex in Kaunas, Lithuania.

II FORTAS
Fortas griežtos simetrines strukturos orientuotas i pietvakarius. Kitaip nei I fortas, II fortas intensyviai urbanizuotas, nuo gamtinio karkaso atskirtas tankiai apstatytais Julijanavos ir Kazliškiu gyvenvieciu sodybinio tipo pastatais. Nepaisant to neblogai išlikes forto perimetras, pavieniu topoliu eiles, gerai matosi forto simetriška penkiakampes formos konfiguracija turejusi labai didele itaka gyvenamuju rajonu planines strukturos susidarymui: keliomis eilemis lygiagreciai perimetrui susiformavo gatves, pagal ju krypti orientuoti gyvenamieji namai. Reljefas nera toks išraiškingas, labiau pažeistas, pastatai labiau suniokoti, ant forto pylimu želdiniu beveik nera. Forto teritorija apžvelgiama tik nuo perimetru einanciu gatviu ir jas kertanciu trumpu gatveliu perspektyvoje. Urbanizuotoje aplinkoje II forto teritorija turi miesto parko ar sodo funkcija.

II FORT
The fort is of strict symmetric structure and is oriented towards the southwest. Unlike the 1st fort, the 2nd fort is heavily urbanized. It is separated from the natural carcass by densely built-up homestead style settlements of Julijanava and Kazliškiai. Despite that, the perimeter of the fort is preserved quite well. One can easily see the symmetric hexagonal configuration of the fort, which had a major influence on the formation of the plan structure for the residential districts: the streets have formed in a few rows parallel to the perimeter, and the dwelling-houses were oriented according to the direction of those streets. The relief isn’t as expressive, more greatly damaged; the buildings are more desolated, there are almost no spouts on the ramparts of the fort. The territory of the fort is overlooked only from the perspective of the streets parallel to the perimeter and short side-streets crossing them. The territory of the 2nd fort in the urbanized territory serves as a park or garden.
