Calçadinha
Julga-se que o caminho partia de Ossonoba (hoje Faro) percorrendo
pelo caminho diversas villas, tal como a de
Milreu, museu arqueológico que pode ser visitado.
It's believed that this paved road stretched uphill from
Ossonoba (Faro's ancient name), going through several Villas along
the way. One of such Villas is
Milreu, whose remains are now part of an archeological museum
which you can visit.
Desta via restam dois troços nas imediações de São Brás,
denominados A e B. A Calçadinha tem sido objecto de acções de
valorização que incluem restauração, colocação de placas
explicativas ao longo do percurso e a sua
divulgação.
In the vicinity of São Brás only two stretches remain from
"Calçadinha", called A and B. The road has benefited from recent
improvements, such as restoration works and the placement of
informative markings along the way. There's also been an effort to
make this roman pathway better
known to the
public.
Cache
Se se dirigir directamente às coordenadas publicadas no topo da
página, iniciará o seu percurso no chamado Troço B da Calçadinha,
que é também o mais comprido dos dois. Este ponto corresponde à
"Terceira etapa" de um caminho mais longo que a seguir lhe
proponho. Aqui necessitará de recolher uma informação que lhe dará
acesso à localização final.
Em alternativa, poderá seguir o intinerário que começa no
Waypoint P0, dentro da vila da São Brás, percorrendo ambos os
Troços A e B da Calçadinha. Nesse caso, siga as seguintes
etapas:
If you proceed directly to the published coordinates, at the
top of the page, you will start your hike at the begining of the so
called stretch B of Calçadinha, which is also the longest of the
two. This location corresponds to "Stage 3" of a longer hike whose
description you'll find further ahead as you read this. Here you'll
need to recover additional information which will enable you to
find the final coordinates.
Alternatively you may take a longer path that starts inside the
village of São Brás and goes through both stretches A and B of
Calçadinha. If you wish to take this longer route, than go through
all stages described below.
Primeira etapa: Stage 1:

O percurso recomendado inicia-se nas no Waypoint P0, perto da
Igreja Matriz de São Brás. Daí tomará o caminho para sul onde após
apenas alguns metros encontrará a placa informativa principal.
Your recommended hike starts at Waypoint P0, near the church.
From there you should take the south pathway. Just a few meters on,
you'll find the first information sign.
Desça os degrauzinhos e siga pela estrada de terra batida
ladeada por muros de pedra que vai virando para a direita; em breve
encontrará o início do troço A da estrada romana (Waypoint P1).
Go down the footsteps and take the dust road with stone walls
that winds slightly to the right. Soon you'll reach stretch A of
the roman road (Waypoint P1). |
Segunda etapa: Stage 2:
Siga ao longo deste troço A da Calçadinha até atingir a estrada
nacional. Para continuar, passe debaixo da estrada através do
túnel. Imediatamente verá as tabuletas que indicam o caminho para o
troço B da Calçadinha.
Follow this stretch of ancient road until you reach the
asphalt road. In order to proceed you'll have to go under the road
through the tunnel. On the other side a couple of arrows point the
way to stretch B of "Calçadinha".
O caminho até ao troço B fazia parte da antiga estrada. O
empedrado original foi removido para dar acesso automóvel às casas
que se encontram aqui. Continue por este caminho até chegar ao
troço B da Calçadinha (coordenadas principais desta página
Geocaching).
This part of the way between streches A and B belonged to the
ancient road. However the original pavement was removed in order to
allow automobile access to the people that live in these houses.
Proceed until you reach stretch B of "Calçadinha" (main
coordinates for this Geocache listing).
Terceira etapa: Stage 3:
Neste ponto terá de fazer algumas contas para obter as
coordenadas finais. No poste de electricidade encontra-se a
seguinte inscrição:
At this point you'll need some simple math to get the final
coordinates for the cache. The large power line pole has the
following engraving:

XXX representa um numero de três algarismos que será usado para
obter as coordenadas finais para a cache, a qual se encontra a
cerca de 390m deste ponto:
XXX is actually a three digit number that you'll need in
order to find the final coordinates for the cache, which is located
at about 390m from this location:

W 7º 53.[178 + XXX]'
Agora que já tem as coordenadas finais basta continuar em
direcção a sul pelo troço B da Calçadinha até chegar à cache. Esta
encontra-se escondida atrás de uma pedra grande, na berma do lado
nascente, perto de um marco com a inscrição JVF. Para que não sinta
a necessidade de virar pedras que não deve, fica aqui a foto com a
localização exacta.
Now that you know the final coordinates, just keep heading
south along the "Calçadinha" until you reach the cache. It's hidden
behind a large rock in the eastern side of the path, near a
milestone marked "JVF". So you don't feel the need to disturb some
innocent stones, here's a picture with the exact location.
Se continuar pelo caminho acabará por chegar à estrada EN2, que
hoje substitui a Calçadinha até Faro-Ossonoba!
Should you keep through the path, you'll reach the road EN2,
which has taken on the role of "Calçadinha" connecting
Faro-Ossonoba to the mountainside villages!
