Odee McPodie: Thankyou to everyone who attended! A great time was had by all and the puppies were very tired when they got home. Congratulations to Paegle Boy, The J-Man and Tom Lambert for their joint-effort win in the time trial. A very special thankyou to Lucy & Roo for donating a GeoCoin as a prize for the time trial.

Geocache Description:

Dru’s Birthday Party GeoDog Event Cache
Sunday 28th September 2008 at 1pm

Since Odee's Birthday Party Event was enjoyed by all we decided to hold another one for our other dog Dru. So come and help us celebrate Dru's 5th Birthday!

Last event we had a couple of dogs new to the puppy social scene, but all was well and everyone was firm friends by the end of the day! Of course Odee and his GoDogGo ball thrower will be there and he is happy to share!

As before, the occasion will be celebrated at the off-leash area of Figtree Park, just off the Princes Hwy at Figtree. The event will kick off at 1pm, after lunch so the puppies wont be teased by us all eating in front of them.

Of course all cachers are welcome, whether you have a canine friend or not, we just wanted the opportunity to hold an event where dogs are welcome as Odee gets upset everytime we go to an event without him. Please be aware however that the event is being held at a public off-leash area and while we ask that cachers only bring dogs that are sociable, members of the muggle world could possibly come by with some not so sociable dogs.

It may not be an appropriate environment for children (other than the four-legged kind) especially if they are unfamiliar with dogs, but that is up to you to decide. We had a number of kids at the previous event, who all had a good time. The only incidents were with the ball thrower! There is also childrens play equipment on the other side of Figtree Park and the kids are welcome to play in Figtree Oval, which is separated from the off-leash area by a low fence.

The council enforced rules of the off-leash park are as follows:
•The owner of the dog must be a competent person 16 years of age or older.
•The owner of the dog has effective control at all times by voice command or other means (it is not considered effective control when one person is walking more than four dogs).
•All dogs are leashed on leaving the area.
•The owner removes and places all dog droppings in a suitable bag and disposes of in an appropriate rubbish bin.
•No restricted dog breeds.
•No dogs declared dangerous.
•No dogs suffering from a contagious disease, skin irritations or parasitic infections.
Dogs are also required to be leashed between the car park and the off-leash area.

We will provide a small marquee for shelter, a couple of small tables, drinking water for the dogs, poo bags and a bin, other than that, it’s BYO everything.

Hopefully we will have a few activities organised for the day and a time trial to attempt either with your four-legged friend or solo.

If you don’t have a dog, don’t worry, all cachers are welcome, we would love to meet you all!
