Almaden Quicksilver Park. Web Canyon Entrance. Follow paved road to Water Tank. Follow well worn trail to the vista point. Elevation gain from base 320' in .4 miles. Terrain Rating 3.5
Posted terrain rating is based on following the Web Canyon trail to New Almaden then short stroll to the vista point.
NOTE: Poison Oak is abundant. If you are affected by poison oak, take extreme caution seeking this cache.
My 10 year old daughter, Kitkat, hiked up here this fine August morning to locate a cache along the New Almaden Tail. We took this shortcut trail so we could hurry through this hike and then head to Natural Bridge(s) beach. Having been here yesterday too, we once again stopped at this vista point and admired the views from here. She sat on a little rock and suggested we hide a cache here to share this spot with the other Geocachers out there. We decided that this is probably a well visited spot and picked the baby soda bottle as the cache to place here. We hid it under some rocks at the base of the tree. Unfortunately, there is poison oak about. We avoided it pretty well and cleared it away from the tree.
The continues on from here. Another hundred feet further it intersects the New Almaden Trail. The trail then continues up another 150 or so feet in elevation and intersects the Randol trail in .2 miles. Neither intersection is marked as this is not an official park trail.
