Rock the Boat Traditional Geocache

redlights: I've been wanting to be able to get out here since the beginning of spring but I just haven't been able to swing it. Then a couple of days ago my wife said she wanted to take one of her first days off for the summer and head out on the kayaks. So this morning after dropping off our sons at their camp we came up to Fishing Creek. Despite the heat and humidity we had a terrific paddle out to ground zero. We spotted many blue herons as well as red-winged blackbirds. Unfortunately when we got to the hiding spot we didn't spot the cache. I hopped out of the kayaks and looked a little closer but nothing. I didn't even see its means of attachment. Oh well it had a good run. And despite it being one of my favorite hides I'm going to let it go. Thanks to all who came to visit.

Yet another cache in the "Musically Yours" series. This one is meant to "take you back." But not to the time of polyester bell-bottoms, platform shoes or John Travolta pointing his finger into the air. This cache is meant to take you back into one of the most beautiful areas of northern Calvert County.

This cache is only accessible by water. When I placed the cache I put my kayak into the water at the public boat ramp located adjacent to the water park in Chesapeake Beach. There is a small fee, but in my humble opinion it is well worth it. While placing this cache, I was awarded the opportunity to see several different species of waterfowl. I even saw two different bald eagles, so bring binoculars and maybe a camera. Take your time as you meander up Fishing Creek.

You are looking for a small blue water-tight container that contains a log and geocaching note. If fact there are two logs in the cache. One is a regular paper logbook that can be used but in case the contents get wet there is a laminated card inside the container and a writing utensil that can be used as well.

Specific Notes about this cache:
The terrain rating for this cache is not a joke by any means.
1. From the marina in Chesapeake Beach it is just a little over a one mile paddle. Check the weather before you leave, making sure that you have plenty of time.

2. While paddling Fishing Creek I did notice a couple of different hunter's blinds, so please check the various waterfowl hunting seasons before seeking this cache.

3. Also check the tides before approaching this cache. If you go for this cache at low tide, like when I placed it, you will probably end up having to wade a couple hundred feet in very thick mud. see picture

4. IF you do decide to visit this cache at a lower tide and have to wade in - please wear thick-soled shoes that lace up. And tie them tightly! And remember when marsh-mucking keep you feet moving to avoid sinking in too deep. see picture

5. And like you should whenever you go out geocaching - let someone know where you are going, when you are getting on the water and when you have returned safely. Remember this is just a game!
