weekend event
September 26th, 27th and 28th

EVENT INFO:
What-
A fun filled geocaching weekend in and around Quinte
West. There will be rough group camping available near event
location for Friday and Saturday night. As well, for those
not intending to camp there are available hotels nearby. This
is a great opportunity to come meet fellow geocachers and to learn
about the sport of geocaching. Several new caches will be placed
for the event. Also a premier Special Trackable Event Geo-Coin has
been minted (250 total) for this event and will be on sale Saturday
following group photo, be sure to get yours (Cost TBD). Must have
paid attendance to event in order to purchase the commemorative
coin.
Where- Camping
and Event Location will be at Batawa Ski Hill with other planned
events nearby.
When-
Friday Sept 26th to Sunday Sept 28th
2008.
Who-
Everyone (young and old) interested in the sport of
geocaching including friends and family. All new geocachers
are welcome and are encouraged to come learn from veteran
geocachers.
Why-
Because Quinte West is a natural attraction and what
better way to see what the local area has to offer. Come for a day
or come for the entire weekend and meet many area geocachers in a
social gathering.
Registration Cost
- $7.00 per person or $23.00
for a family of 4 (after 4 is $5.00 per person) to help cover event
cost.
Registration includes
- Geocaching event all 3
days, Saturday evening BBQ dinner, Saturday night bon fire, prizes
on Sunday and rough group camping.
Rough Group Camping is available for
setting up Friday evening after 4:30 p.m. at N44 10.420

Portable Bathrooms will be available
at group area campground.
For those not wishing to camp there
are many local area hotels/motels available.

Night time
Caching: For those unafraid of caching
in the dark. There will be 2 night time event caches placed
as part of the Quinte Geocaching Adventure Challenge. (info will be
available on site).

Sept. 27th 2008:

Time:
8:30 a.m. - Registration Booth Opens
(Please give the volunteers time to set up)
9:00 a.m. - Welcoming greeting to
all by committee
9:30 a.m. - Days caching events
begin. Several caches have been placed for this event on site
as well as around the local area.
Noon Break for lunch on your own
time.
2:30 p.m. - Planned children and
family activities (geared for kids that are too tired to continue
on with caching for the afternoon)
5:00 p.m. - Head back to
Batawa Ski Chalet for planned supper BBQ (Included
in registration costs)
5:30 p.m. - Group Photo at the
Batawa Ski Chalet. Event Coin sale following group
photo.
8:30 p.m. - Bon fire (more info to
follow)
All are invited to the group camping
area to socialize at the end of the bon fire.
Sunday, Sept. 28th
2008:
Location:
Batawa Ski Hill (Main event location
and group camping area)
Time:
10:00 a.m. - Event Wraps Up with
draws, prizes and closing ceremony.
12:01 p.m. - C.I.T.O (voluntary
cleanup) to be carried out around main event location and
group camping area.
Notes
* When you log your will attend
please let us know how many children and what their ages
are.
.
* Also in your log we would appreciate if you let
us know if you plan on camping and which nights, so we can plan for
you.
* If anyone would like to hide a cache for the
event please feel free to do so but include a note to the reviewer
so that it can be posted the weekend of the event. Then also let us
know and we can put together a listing of all newly placed caches
for the event to be handed out at check in. Also if you could ask
the reviewer not to post till the evening of the event. This way
everyone won't be rushing away during the event to capture first to
finds and equal opportunity will be open for all. Thanks
