The church is a good place to park for your boogie round Bell Hill, except on a Sunday when other places in the village should be used. One advantage of starting at Underbarrow is that on your return you could sample the delights of the Punchbowl!
A short way north of the church, past some houses, and Chapel Lane runs off to the NE. It is a narrow and stony lane with high banks but is easily traversed, except with a pushchair! Reaching the open fields and livestock may be encountered. The GPS will lead you to an obvious object. From the shell of the old, the new springs forth.
If you've come up Chapel Lane you now have a choice, north or east. All ways are pleasant and once back into the lanes no livestock to worry about with geohounds - just mad mountain bikers to avoid! Our preference is north about, so follow the grass track up to a ruin. Keep left of the ruin to pick up the bridleway. If you're on a bike, technically, you need to head east then north on very nice bridleway past the front of Lindreth Brow.
