Well, we lost yet another great Music Venue this year when CLARK
PLACE shut down after not too many years of operation. It served as
the stop-gap venue after Witz End bit the dust, and did a fine job
of it. Where are we going to go now, I ask?
Before it was CLARK PLACE it used to be the American Legion Hall
and I remember coming here for AMVETS meetings years ago.
As CLARK PLACE, the most memorable events were, without question,
the Halloween Costume Parties that drew in a whole host of really
creative and outstanding costumes worn by every freak and fairy in
the county. Those parties are remembered by many of us as some of
the best times we had at social gatherings of that scale and nature
in Point.
One of the last rock shows I saw here was Wishbone Ash, just a few
years back. Great gig, but the band lacked the luster of it's
original self without the Turner brothers, although Andy Powell can
still play the searing instrumentals and make it sound the way it
did 3 decades ago.
For any of you cachers who saw a show at CLARK, please share your
stories and any pictures you can dig up.
The newest venture is an upscale joint that looks like it has
promise. I wish them the best of luck.
This series of caches is meant to conjure music memories from the
past. Please leave your mementos and stories behind.
Thanks for the memories, Wishbone Ash, and others I can't recall
at the moment... now I have to try to recall who I saw at Eli's
Mile High, that will be tough!
