Geocache Description:

High in the Angeles National Forest where the air is crisp and cool and streams are fresh, cold and sweet as honey. After a long hike, this little oasis will be a welcomed sight.

After a long day on the trail this oasis was a welcomed relief. A nice cold stream with water cold and sweet. You will be happy to stop and spend a little time here. There may be a few flies and nats but what do you expect in the forest? GZ is also home to a colony of biting ants, so be aware of this fact.

There are a few ways to get to this little oasis. I posted the coordinates of where we started our journey nine miles ago. You to can start there and enjoy all the scenic wonders as you cache your way through the mountains.

These mountains are home to bears, bobcat and even rattlesnakes. There are also plants that can cause you harm if you are not careful. Be aware of your surroundings. Before you reach into or under anything, be sure to use a long stick to clear it of any unseen critters. Be sure to let someone know your itinerary just in case your arrival back home is delayed for one reason or another. Carry maps so you know exactly where you are, where you are going and how to get back to your vehicle.

At ground zero there is a lot of tree cover so reception may wander a bit. Find a good clearing and then work your way to GZ. Once there, finding the cache host should be rather easy. The water is good to drink if you so desire. I have never filtered water here and probably never will. Enjoy the wild flowers in the area. They look like shooting stars. Well they should, columbine is called the shooting star flower. So enjoy them but do not pick them, its illegal to remove flowers out of the forest without a gathering permit.
