Geocache Description:

This cache is placed near the Good Intent Hose Company of Llewelly, Penna. and is here to pay respect to my Brother Firefighter for their dedication to protecting their community.

The Good Intent Hose Company was first formed in 1886 and later disbanded. It was reformed in 1907 and chartered in 1908. They were originally located directly behind Reedy's Service Station on Rt 209 in Llewelly. However, in 1969, they suffered a devastating fire at their firehouse and both their building and apparatus were a total loss. To fight that fire, 13 neighboring fire companies responded that day. Through the strong support of the community, businesses and other fire companies, they were able to raise like a phoenix from the ashes and rebuild a new station at their current location. (Having gone through a similar lose in my fire company in 1996, I know how they must have felt in 1969).
Good Intent Hose continues to grow to this day with five pieces of apparatus and they are currently planning a building addition to house their firefighting equipment. This company of young, well trained and dedicated firefighter are on the mutual aid listing for my company in Donaldson.
Please visit their fine web page for a more detailed history and other information about the Good Intent Hose Company of Llewellyn.
This cache is placed with the knowledge and approval of Michael Pothering, Chief 3 of the Good Intent Hose Company and several firefighters under his command.
