A strenuous, but beautiful hike up to the cache at the summit of Round Mountain
This cache should be relatively easy to find and get to in the summer, in the winter however expect more of an adventure. When we placed the stash it was after a solid day of snowshoeing and at the peak of a 3,500 foot elevation gain.
That being said a little bit about the cache; the cache was placed under 5-6 feet of snow at the base of a rather large broken-off tree (tree is broken 30 feet or so up the trunk) on the summit of Round Mountain. The ground was too frozen (I was too tired) to bury it securely so when the spring thaw comes it should be completely exposed (if anyone finds it this spring maybe you could look for a more secure location around the base of the tree). The cache itself is a Tupperware sandwich container full of several small toys (one glaring omission from the cache is a log book and pencil – I realize this is a cardinal sin so someone please save my soul and bring those missing items up to the cache). Good Hunting!
Finally thanks to Ryan and Melissa for the trip!
