Ridge Road Park #1 Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

MarkSun: After being plagued by poison ivy over the years, and being missing few times. I now found out the area had been renovated.

Time to Archive and open up the area for others to use.

I may place another cache in the park this summer

A 170 acre Westchester County Park. A treasure I have driven by more time then I can count over the years & till to day never drive into to the entrance.

There a small playground & cover pavilion's, as well Several open picnic areas & 2 or 3 that can be reserved (By paid permit for groups of 26 or more) for say an event (potluck) picnic. Some having pertinent grills in some of these areas

Paved roads to drive to various areas the can be gated off when they do not cars in those area's ... like I saw today. However you can walk from he main parking area.

SO I am planning a series of kid friendly caches, where mom or dad may have to help "geokids" reach the cache.

The one - the first - IF the "gates" are open, you can park within 25-50' of the cache. If the gate is closed the main parking is about 0.18 miles according to my GPS so bit longer by staying on the paths.

My GPS was a bit Jumpy & w/ accuracy no better then 25-30' - IF you get better coord's & accuracy by all means post then, but I am confident you will find this cache.

BEWARE I was told there IS POISON IVY around the park as well as ticks

Now I have PROOF there is Poison Ive there

From the log of Perfect Tommy on 7/19/08 -- "Future Perfect Tommy noted 'Dad, you're standing in poison ivy.' My horror was alleviated somewhat with the knowledge that all those Cub Scout meetings had paid off - FPT could recognize PI. And he was correct. There's a small forest of the vile weed near the cache."
