Geocache Description:

Not far from the famous beach of Palombaggia (south of Porto Vecchio) you’ll find a nice peninsula named Punta di a Chiappa with a beautiful old lighthouse at the end. You’ll get there coming from Porto Vecchio when you follow the N198 towards Bonifacio. At the south end of the city, right after crossing the bridge of the Stabiacciu river, a small street branches off to the left with a sign “Palombaggia”. This street surrounds the whole peninsula and ends in the village Bocca di l’Oru. At N41 35.338 E9 20.033 (1 kilometer before the villge Piccovaggia) a very small road with a dead end branches off. It is marked with a sign “Le Phare”. Follow this road. It passes by a small lake close to the sea and after about 3km you will see the new electronic radio tower first and then the old lighthouse. There is a parking close by the old tower and a sign at the entrance gate says “open to the public”. From the inner area a small white painted wooden door leads to a nice garden-terrace. From there you can enjoy the great view to the golfe of Porto-Vecchio. When you turn to the right immediately after entering the garden through the white door, a small path leads behind the surrounding wall. At N41 35.701 E9 21.964 the path passes by an old metal canon fixture. From there the path leads down to the sea and the cliffs of Punta di a Chiappa. At the end of the path from the lighthouse you will meet a fitness path. Search the station nr 10. There a very narrow footpath leads into the macchia. Follow this path until you reach the steep cliffs. You’ll have a breathtaking view from there but be careful with your children. The cache is hidden about 5m before you reach the view point on the right side of the footpath.

Attention: The place where the cache is located is very quiet, beautiful but well hidden. Therefore it seems also to be a preferred place by naturists who know the area. However, don't be scared, even though these people may confront you with their natural "beauty" very unexpectedly they don't bite. If you search this cache with your children tell them there before that naked people who don't like bathing clothes may be around, just to beware them from being shocked. I knew that naturists seek this type of places on Corse but I wasn't aware that they appear that frequently here when I put the cache, sorry about that.
