Geocache Description:

Number 262 in the ‘Church Micro’ series.

Church of St. Nicholas, Cliff End, Pett Level, East Sussex

This tiny church is almost on the beach at Pett Level in the hamlet of Cliff End.

The church was originally owned by the Admiralty and known as Rocket House. It was used by the coastguards to house equipment until it was purchased by the PCC of Pett in conjunction with the Chichester Diocesan Fund and Board of Finance on 15 March 1935. St Nicholas was dedicated as a chapel of ease to the church of St Mary and St Peter in Pett on 14 April 1935.

The church was closed in June 1940 after the evacuation of all civilians from the area during WW2. It re-opened in August 1945.

The cache is a magnetic container, with a spiral natural form.

If anybody would like to expand the Church Micro series please do, we would just ask that you could let Sadexploration know first, so they can keep track of the Church numbers and names, to avoid duplication.
