This cache is hidden at historic Joanna Furnace with permission from Hay Creek Valley Historical Association.
Started in 1791, Joanna Furnace was once a thriving 19th Century iron making community. The 1898 death of ironmaster L. Herber Smith forced the charcoal-fueled iron furnace to close down. Joanna Furnace restoration and placement on the National Register of Historic Places began with the donation of this property to Hay Creek Valley Historical Association in 1979.
The Association requests that access to this cache be made during daylight hours only and cachers park at the posted coordinates.
To find the cache, you may enter an obscure trail which follows the path of the original water race which powered the furnace. BYOP
