SideTracked - Llwyngwril Traditional Geocache

This cache has been archived.

Gwyddno: As the cache container has been stolen again and the hiding location is now very thorny, I've decided that the best thing to is archive this cache. Thanks for all of the kind comments from all of the cachers who have visited this cache over the years,

Happy caching,

Gwyddno.

Geocache Description:

Sidetracked - Llwyngwril

About Sidetracked

We have Motorway Mayhem. We have A-Road Anarchy (cos there aren’t many Motorways in Wales!) We have Village Vexations in North Wales (GC116GE) but what about public transport users? Sidetracked caches are intended to provide quick cache-and-dashes at train stations.  Sidetracked (visit link)

About the Cache

This cache is located at the station in the village of Llwyngwril.  The trains are pretty frequent in the summer (and less so in the winter!).  To get by rail, you come up the line from Machynlleth and Aberdyfi; a stunning journey along the Dyfi Estuary and the Cambrian coast.  Northwards is Barmouth Bridge, across the Mawddach Estuary and then on to Harlech and eventually to Pwllheli.  Llwyngwril is the site of 2 other geocaches: “Castell y Gaer” (GCQWD8) by Climber1958 has great views and my “Quakers Cache – Llwyngwril” (GC11ERC), a quick mystery micro by the beach.  After your caching, the village has a shop, a pub and a café for hot & thirsty (or cold & wet, depending on the season!) geocachers to refresh themselves in before getting the train onwards to their next caching adventure.

Please re-hide the cache carefully.  This is a micro-cache, so there’s no pen; please remember to bring your own!  Pob lwc!

For rail enthusiasts you can change to the Ffestiniog narrow gauge railway at Minffordd (where there’s also a Sidetracked Cache GC1BFMH) or ride the Tal y Llyn from Tywyn up to Abergynolwyn and some great walking & caching.
