The sea continues to be a central part of the history and culture of the United Arab Emirates. Each of the emirates faces the sea and much of the daily life of the country takes place near to the sea-shore. Every emirate thus has a corniche where the public can relax, stroll around, watch and be seen. Perfect places for a cache!
This is the first of a series of six caches. The series comprises of the following caches:
Abu Dhabi Promenade (this cache), GC1BXCK
Dubai Promenade, GC1BXPY
Ajman Promenade, GC1BZ3H
Ras al Khaimah Promenade, GC1C23V
Fujairah Promenade, GC1C9V7
UAE Promenade, GC1CFAY
The Abu Dhabi Promenade cache is a small box placed next to the concrete support strut for a utilities box in the walking area of the corniche. Park your car on the land-ward side of the corniche at N 24o 30.047’ E054o 21.949’ and walk through the pedestrian tunnel to the sea-front. Although the cache has been hidden in a discreet area, there are often muggles around and a number of containers have already been lost. Any prolonged loitering around the utilities box will attract attention and a quick "dash and grab" is often the only option. To this end a more detailed description how to get the cache container has been given below in the 'hint' section. Please replace the cache exactly where you have found it. If you find the cache yet again muggled, please email me, or better yet send me a photograph of, the 10-character code on the box as proof of finding the hiding place. I will then confirm that you can still log a find on this cache
