IMPORTANTE - le coordinate NON portano alla cache, ma all'ingresso
della Grotta del Pippi. Questa è una scelta obbligata, in quanto
nella grotta, anche se ampia e molto aperta, non c'è assolutamente
segnale GPS. Noi abbiamo voluto piazzare la cache all'interno della
grotta e non fuori sia perchè qui è più protetta, sia perchè il
posto merita davvero di essere visto.
Trovarla non è difficile, seguite le indicazioni e non avrete
problemi.
Abbiamo scoperto questa grotta più di venti anni fa, durante le
nostre passeggiate sui Monti Pisani, e siamo rimasti colpiti dalla
sua bellezza. Nella nostra immaginazione di ragazzi che a quel
tempo eravamo, ci ha ricordato i vecchi film con valli perdute,
dinosauri, caverne misteriose e segreti da rivelare...ecco perchè
l'abbiamo battezzata "La grotta dimenticata dal tempo".
Nota: tutti i nomi tra virgolette li abbiamo inventati noi.
Siamo ritornati più volte qui nel corso degli anni, e siamo sempre
rimasti affascinati da questo ambiente un pò strano, una montagna
cava con alberi all'interno e un piccolo sistema di grotte, vicino
alla città eppure così lontano, dove si può anche un pò
fantasticare e sentirsi Indiana Jones...ecco, in fondo anche adesso
che siamo cresciuti questo posto ci fa tornare un pò bambini
!!
Raggiungere la grotta non è difficile, abbiamo messo la difficoltà
2.5 perchè ci si deve un pò destreggiare nel seguire il viottolo,
ma il percorso è abbastanza lineare; in ogni caso ci sono più
strade per arrivarci, quella da noi descritta è la più semplice
(noi le abbiamo provate tutte!).
Potete parcheggiare la macchina a N 43°41.513 E 010°31.565 che è il
punto più vicino, giusto dove inizia il viottolo. Andate verso le
case diroccate alla base della montagna e girate a sinistra (vedi
foto 1 - segui Gigi), proseguite seguendo il viottolo verso le
coordinate indicate, c'è da salire un pochetto (foto 2 - foto 3 vi
mostrano alcuni passaggi), arriverete di fronte ad una casa
diroccata seminascosta dalla vegetazione (foto 4), qui alla vostra
destra si accede alla grotta (foto 5). Per arrivare alla cache
dovrete entrare, attraversare la grotta girando a destra dopo il
grande masso al centro con un albero sopra (foto 6 - Gigi vi indica
dove andare). Dovrete entrare nella "porta degli inferi" (foto 7) e
guardare a destra...utile ma non indispensabile una piccola
torcia.
Dopodichè, se il posto vi piace (speriamo di si), potrete
sbizzarrirvi a raggiungere l'"albero della vita", o sedervi nella
"grotta dell'eremita", o esplorare le caverne oltre la "porta degli
inferi" (tranquilli, non ci si può perdere..), insomma godervi
questo posto affascinante. Se volete fare qualche foto e
pubblicarla, ne saremo felici.
La cache è un ex vaschetta di gelato in un sacchetto blu.

IMPORTANT - The coordinates DON'T carry you at the cache, but at
the entrance of the Grotto of Pippi. This is an obliged choice,
because in the grotto there is any GPS signal. We want to place the
cache into the grotto and not outside, because here it is more
protected, and because this place needs to be visited.
Found the cache is not difficult, follow our indications and you
don't have any problems.
We have discovered this grotto over twnty years ago, during our
walking on Monti Pisani, and we were impressed by its beautiful. In
our imagination of children that we were in that times, it
remembered us the old films with lost valleys, dinosaurs,
mysterious caverns and secrets to reveal...for this cause we named
it "The grotto that time forgot".
Note: all names by quotes "" was invented by us.
We returned more times here during the ages, and we ever were
charmed by this strange ambient, an hollow mountain with trees
inside and a little system of caverns, so near to the town and so
remote, where the mind can dream and imagine to be Indiana
Jones....now we are a bit older, but this place make us feel like
children !!!
To reach the grotto is not difficult, we put 2.5 to difficult range
because follow the path requires a bit attention; however, there
are more paths to reach the grotto, we have showed you the most
simple path.
You can park your car at N 43°41.513 E 010°31.565, just when the
path begins. Go to the ruined houses at the base of the mountain
and turn left (see photo 1 - follow Gigi), proceed following the
path to the coordinates, you must go up a bit (photo 2 - photo 3
shows you some passages), when you reach a ruined house partially
hidden by plants (photo 4), at your right there is the entrance to
the grotto (photo 5). To reach the cache you have to enter, walk to
all the grotto turning at right after the big rock in the middle
with a tree on it (photo 6 - Gigi show the direction). You must
enter the "inferno entrance" (photo 7) and look to the
right....useful but not necessary a little torchlight.
Now, if you like this place (we hope yes) you can enjoy to reach
the "tree of life", sit in the "grotto of hermit", explore the
caves beyond the "inferno entrance" (don't panic, you can't loose
yourself here), and spend good times in this fascinating place. If
you want to take some pictures and publish them, we appreciate
this.
