Despite my best efforts, the origins of the name "Arthur's
Bridge" remains a mystery. Originally it was the bridge that
connected Woking and Horsell, however the relatively recent
building of Lockfield Drive divided Horsell from the bridge and so
cut Arthur's Bridge Road in Horsell off from its namesake.
Close to the bridge is a converted barn, believed to date from
the 16th century. You may now find that this is a good spot for
some refreshment on your walk down the towpath. This is also the
site of a large gathering of canal barges over the Easter weekend
each year.
Some stealth is required when locating the cache as this part of
the towpath can get busy on sunny days. I've included a spoiler
photo for those of you who want to use it. Please also bring your
own pen.
Please do not attempt to access the cache from Lockfield
Drive if you arrive by car. I would suggest that you find a spot in
Bridge Barn Lane.
