Kätköpaikka sijaitsee Melkkolan kylän lähettyvillä Suuri Pyhäkala
järven rannalla. Autoilevat kätköilijät voivat jättää kulkupelinsä
koordinaatteihin N 60° 56.045 E 028° 05.420.
Komeiden maisemien lisäksi kätköpaikka on erityisen kiinnostava
esihistoriallisen menneisyytensä vuoksi. Kätköpaikan läheltä
koordinaateista N 60° 56.191 E 028° 05.636 löytyy kiviröykkiö, joka
on joko linnavuori (eräänlainen puolustusvarustus) tai niin sanottu
lapinraunio (hautapaikka). Paikan pienestä koosta johtuen on
kuitenkin todennäköisempää, että kyseessä on hautaröykkiö tai
jonkinlainen rituaalipaikka.
Kätkörasia on regular kokoinen pakasterasia, johon mahtuu hyvin
geokolikot sekä vähän isommatkin travel bugit. Ole varovainen
kätköä ottaessasi! Turvavarusteiden käyttö ei ole huono
idea.
Kätkö on periaatteessa mahdollista löytää talvella, mutta
kätköpaikalle pääseminen on varmasti huomattavasti vaativampaa ja
jäisillä kalliolla könyäminen voi olla terveydelle haitallista.
The cahce site is located near the village of Melkkola on the shore
of lake Suuri Pyhäkala. If you come by car, you can leave it at N
60° 56.045 E 028° 05.420.
In addition to the breath taking view the cache site is
especially interesting because of its prehistoric past. Near the
cache at coordinates N 60° 56.191 E 028° 05.636 there is pile of
rocks that is either the remains of some fortification or a burial
ground. Because of the small size of the area it's more likely that
the pile was used to mark graves or it was used as a place to
perform some sort of rituals.
The actual cache is about a regular sized plastic container that
has plenty of room for geocoins and travel bugs. Be very careful
when taking the cache! Using some safety equimpent is not a bad
idea.
It's possible to find the cache also during the winter, but
getting to the cache site is probably a lot more difficult and
fooling around on the icy cliff can be detrimental to your
health.
