The other
day, we finally made it to 1K! While I know that sounds awful
bragadocious it also got me thinking about the first time I went
caching.
The first
time we heard about geocaching was from a Navy friend and his
wife in
2002. Back then it sounded intriguing, but a bit too
techy! Fast forward to 2006 when
Liblablady
and ICEman were introduced
into our lives through exchange students, (and we were a bit
savvier with
technology). Their exchange student was always
talking to ours about how he had gone geocaching here and there.
That sure sounded like fun. So, I asked Liblablady if I could
go out with her sometime. “Sometime” came
about April
27th, 2006 as
we headed
out for
Blooming Skagit (GCPGC9, created by Rosewells girl.
Since I was not too sure about things, Liblablady made the
find first but was nice enough to wait until I spied it. I
admit to greedily
pawing through the contents of the cache, when something shiny caught my eye. It was an
unactivated
DuncanClan
coin! (They were an Anacortes
geocaching family that has since moved to Utah.)
Not too bad
for your first geocache! Well, as you probably can indentify
with, it’s pretty much been an addiction every
since!
So
that is my noob story. What’s
yours?
Please note when you log the cache, where, when and with whom
your first
caching experience occurred. A reproduction of our CrouchCrew 1K
caching coin is on the log for all
you non-purists who care to discover it!.
Located on
private property and placed with permission.
Please limit your searching to daylight hours. You might want
to avoid this area, Thursdays,
4-7
PM, June
1st-September 28th. There is a Public Market that
takes place very near the cache during those
times.
Originally,
I had planned to place some of my favorite geo-tools in the cache
as FTF prizes but have since changed my mind to it being an
ACE
gift card.
That way you can pick out your own!.
Accolades
go to tessa1 on FTF!
