PAMATNY ROK 1893
Psal se rok 1893, kdy v Privoze byl zalozen prvni cesky sportovni spolek na Ostravsku vubec. Jeho ustavujici schuze se sesla prave 1. kvetna v restauraci U Dlouhych. Z ruznych prenesenych informacich vime, ze schuzi ridil predseda pripravneho vyboru pan Holesovsky, ze prvnim predsedou noveho spolku se stal privozsky rolnik Leopold Havranek a nazev Perun, ktery ustavujici schuze prijala, doporucil ucitel P. V. Bebar. Spolek Perun mel charakter plavecko-veslarsky. Samotny nazev vsak dava zcela zretelne tusit, ze uz te prvni hrstce nadsencu slo o cilevedomou cinnost narodnostni. Slovansky buh Perun byl pro bystre oci a spicate usi rakousko-uherskych nohsledu pomerne nezavadny, pro samotne prislusniky plavecko-veslarskeho spolku vsak dostatek symbolicky. Vzdyt prvni legitimace spolku Perun mely na titulni strance vytisten portret J. A. Komenskeho!

Souradnice vas zavedou nedaleko sidla nejstarsiho veslarskeho klubu v Ostrave, Perunu. Tuto cache jsme zalozili s nasi geobabickou, ktera nedaleko Perunu vyrustala, pozdeji veslovala a ziskala nejednu medaili.

Memorable year 1893
It was in 1893, when the first Czech sports club in Ostrava region was founded in Privoz. Its first constitutive meeting was held on 1 May at the restaurant "U Dlouhych". From different information we know that the meeting was chaired by Privoz farmer Mr Leopold Havranek and that the name Perun, which was accepted by the constitutive meeting, was recommended by a teacher Mr P. V. Bebar. The Perun Society was of swimming-rowing nature. The name itself foreshadows that the first few enthusiasts had in their minds purposeful national revival activity. Slavic god Perun was quite unobjectionable for the sharp eyes and ears of the Austrian-Hungarian minions, though for the members of the swimming-rowing society it had been symbolic enough. The first membership cards had a portrait of J. A. Komensky printed on the front page!

The rowing club was transferred with all its sports equipment to the Vitkovicke zelezarny a strojirny Kl. Gottwalda Sports Union. In 1953, VZKG Sports Union adopted the name Banik VZKG. |

Once again the rowing club was taken over by the Sports Union, but this time it was named LOKOMOTIVA OSTRAVA. |

The club joined SLAVIA Sports Union of the Technical University Ostrava |
