Geocache Description:

Sacred Place, Please be quite.

Kyeonggijeon, they symbol of Jeonju Korean-style village.
It's the building established in 10th year of Taejong to attend portrait of first king as Lee dynasty was founded. And in Jeonggy rebellion in 30th year of Seonjo(1597) it was burned down and was built again in 6th year of Gwanghaegun(1614).
There are two hidden culture code, one is Hama monument on roadside of main entrance of Kyeonggijeon, and the other is the story of tortoise of Jinjeon. On Hama monument "Jichagaehama jabinmudoeib" is written. It means that anyone who arrives here should dismount from their horse disregard of their classes and social position and outsiders are forbidden from entering.
As a place where first king's portrait is being attended, the power of chief gatekeeper might have been great. In Jinjeon two tortoises are attached, it is known that the carpenter who completed Kyeonggijeon had put two tortoises on the roof for its eternity.
It's guessed that the tortoise was for preventing fire in that the tortoise lives in water and Jinjeon is wooden architecture. It makes more probable in that the front mountain Soengam visible from Kyeonggijeon is volcano.
Kyeonggijeon especially beautiful with autumn scenery is also the place noted for a filming place of historical dramas and movies as surrounding scene is splendid.
